So guys, this winter has all the aspects of bi-polar mental illness. From super cold to warm-ups that are causing flooding and ice jambs, it really seems like Mother Nature can't make up her mind.

I include a photo of the fog and temperature inversion over the hills to the west of us on Tuesday as well as a photo of ice fishermen on the lake last week. As I'm writing this on Wednesday, the cold is returning with another warm-up scheduled for the weekend and then cold again!

This is, of course, the perfect scenario for flu and colds galore and I hear this is one of the worst seasons for flu. I and Herman have gotten our flu shots, and I hope you have too.

I actually got a pneumonia shot as well, both last fall, well in front of this current outbreak. (Since I've has pneumonia in the past, I'm especially sensitive to the need for that prevention.)

It seems as if the summer is far away, though I did console myself by buying two new bikini bathing suits by going to Land's End catalog sales and getting 40 percent off. I bought these while sitting under my suntan booth to get me in the mood of summer. I went online to see what they had for the middle of winter sales on bathing suits. I did not realize that I was only buying bathing suit tops, until they arrived in the mail. I quickly went back online to order the bottoms, as well as a new swimsuit for Herman. He was not as enthused as I was though he liked it when it came.

It was also Herman's 70th birthday last weekend, and for that I bought him new flannel shirts that I found on Amazon.com. I cannot believe that Herman turned 70-- he looks so much younger to me.

He told me he wanted to grow a beard but I put the kibosh on that idea, and I'm happy to say that he is clean shaven once again. There are a lot of birthdays in January, around the time of Herman's, but his stood out with me as Herman said, "I'm turning 3 score and ten so it's a very big deal."

Herman is twelve years older then I am which means I'll be turning 58 on my next birthday, April 12th. I also have my new book which I titled "Training Wheels" new out in the next several months. The book is about dealing with the MS on a daily basis. It basically talks about turning lemons into lemonade. I had hoped to have it out by January 2018, but I'm afraid it's going to take a little longer. I hope you all get a chance to read my new book! I will keep you all informed as to when it will be out-- stay tuned.
